A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook northeastern Japan and launched a tsunami warning for the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, the brunt of the catastrophe of 11 March, announced Monday the Japanese meteorological agency.
Tokyo .- Japan's Meteorological Agency on Monday issued a tsunami warning for the coast of Miyagi prefecture, after recording a quake of 6.5 magnitude on the Richter scale.
The bureau said it expected the imminent arrival of 50 cm waves off the coast of Miyagi.
The quake occurred at 07:24 local time on Monday (22:24 GMT Sunday), on the coast of Miyagi, at 38.2 degrees north latitude and 142.4 degrees west longitude.
