Countries South America also joined tonight environmental initiative held every year in the world in order to promote energy conservation.
MEXICO CITY .- Various cities joined this night of Earth Hour, from 20:30 to 21:30 hours, during which time lights were turned off houses, public buildings and monuments, to support the fight against climate change.
In Sonora, municipalities and residents in several municipalities turned off the lights tonight, in response to Earth Hour Metro, whose main event was recorded in Guaymas pier, south of the state.
In Guadalajara, 90 buildings and public places remained dark , including City Hall, the Rotunda of Illustrious Men, Los Arcos and Minerva, the Glorieta of the Stampede, Plaza and Plaza Tapatia Flag, among others.
North of the country, in Monterrey , the Government Palace, the Esplanade of Heroes and postal services building, among other buildings and public places were kept in the dark for one hour.

In Campeche, Quintana Roo and Yucatan went off for 60 minutes the lights of buildings and monuments in support of Earth Hour.
In the city of Puebla, City Hall, sources of San Miguel, of the Friars and China Poblana and Socket plate were some public buildings in which the light was turned off 60 minutes.
As regards Querétaro, among the monuments that remained in darkness highlighted the Aqueduct, the Temple of San Francisco, the Cerro de las Campanas, Alameda Hidalgo, squares Zenea, de Armas, Corregidor, Constitution Gardens and Santa Clara Guerrero, as well as gas stations and shopping malls.
also dropped the "switch" in the states of Durango, Veracruz, Baja California Sur, Oaxaca and Chihuahua .
The Earth Hour is an initiative sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF, for its acronym in English), which began in Sydney in 2007 to alert the world population on the excessive consumption of electricity.
